Mitchell Billiards and the Commercial Club present the 2018 National 8Ball Championships

The AEBF welcome Cue Ball Tv and Poolstat back to the Nationals for 2018 being held at the Commercial Club, Albury

The Nationals will be played from Thursday October 18th through to Finals day Friday October 26th and Presentation Night on Saturday October 27th

Streaming will be provided by the AEBF Live Stream and Cue Ball Tv, giving you 2 matches per session to choose from and various singles matches

Results will be Live through Poolstat, which will be viewable through the AEBF web site

World Eightball AGM 2018

Players now free to play all discipline of cue sports without fear of a ban

The World Eightball Pool Federation have removed their by-law of 14a – 

‘Any player who plays for a team purporting to be a National team, or who plays as an individual in an event without the sanction of the European Eight-ball Pool Federation or the World Eight-ball Pool Federation, shall be liable to suspension.’

This is great news to hear as the Australian Eight-Ball Federation (AEBF) and it’s members States/Territories with support from players around Australia and the World have been pushing for this rule to be removed for some time and through the AEBF attendance at the World AGM this as now happened.

2018 Australian Eight Ball Senior Nationals

WEPF are changing the format for next year (2018) in order to streamline the Worlds, this was agreed by the nations at this years event, and will be confirmed in writing from Alan as stated above.
 
1.       Wednesday 20th June, start of the Mens World Singles, to be continued on 21st.

2.       Friday 22nd June, start of the Masters, to be completed on 23rd/early 24th.

3.       The Ladies and Seniors Masters will start on Saturday 23rd and complete on 24th.

4.       The A.G.M. will be on Saturday 23rd.

5.       The Opening ceremony on Sunday 24th

6.       Most of the other events will start on Sunday 24th and Finals day on Friday 29th for all sections. Juniors/Wheelchair will start 25th or 26th

7.       The presentation of all trophies will be at the Banquet on Friday 29th. We had this format at this years Europeans with over 400 in attendance, a great presentation.

All of the above is subject to number of entries from the member countries but we would not expect the schedule to change much.

One of the big benefits to the above format is that the Mens World and Masters events will be held first, starting on the Weds.

All other sections will not be involved until the Saturday or later which reduces substantially the number of days people have to be in attendance.

– Tues, Wed and Thurs have 1 ‘Teams’ match followed by 2 ‘Singles’ matches
– NSW, if not fielding a Team it will be a bye, no extras

With Australia mens plus others in mind we have moved one of our UK tours to be held in Birmingham from Friday 15th until Sunday 17th.

The venue is 5 minutes from Birmingham International airport and the hotel is the Hilton Metropole, possibly the best hotel in England outside of London.

Prize fund will be over £18,000 which when coupled with the World & Masters gives us a massive £55,000 paid out over the 3 events.

We will be using the World Championship tables at the Tour event, which will then be transported to Blackpool for the Worlds.

Accommodation cost will be in line with what you are paying at the Imperial. The UK tour events which your men can enter are main event £10,000 prize fund and Challenge £5,000.

Entry fee is £100 which covers both events.

Your players can fly to London and train to Birmingham or fly direct into Birmingham airport.

For a small cost of £10, depending on numbers we will arrange a coach to Blackpool late Sunday.

If the rest of your party travel later than the mens we will arrange to pick them up at Manchester airport as in previous years.

Your players are invited to attend the UK Tour in Birmingham, this is mainly for the Mens squad but if any of your juniors, U/23, Seniors also wanted to attend they would be most welcome.

The main benefit for your players is that they will compete in major prize fund events on the world championship tables just before the worlds start.

We only have a limited number of spots available but are giving Australia first option. Would appreciate your comments as soon as possible.

Shazza has competed at Australian Championships since the inception of Women’s Teams in 1992, missing only two Nationals (1997 and 2009)
In a distinguished career, she has:-
• Represented QLD 17 times (1992-2010) and NSW 10 (2011-2022)
• Captained QLD 5 times and NSW 5
• Won QLD State Singles 1 x (2010) and State Doubles 5 x (96, 97,12,13 and 2014)
• Won NSW State Singles 7 x (11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 2019)
• Won an Australian Doubles final with Tania Aitken in 1996
• Been Women’s team final runner-up on 2 occasions and winner in 2006
• Won the Australian Women’s singles 1 x (2016)
• Semi-finalist in Australian Women’s singles on 2 occasions and a runner-up in 2012
• Named in the Australian Women’s team x (96, 04, 05, 06, 08, 11, )
• Represented Australia in World Championships on 6 occasions
• Captained the Australian Team on 3 occasions in World Championships including captaining the Australian Team in the 2007 World Team Titles win.

There is no doubt that Shazza Brown has been an outstanding player in State, Australian, and World Championships

 There were no nominations for team mangers as of 10am Saturday 18 November 2017 (AGM)
